Summer 2020
Sameer Dharur
Sameer Dharur worked as a conversational AI intern at Salesforce in Bellevue, WA. He worked on Reply Recommendations – a Salesforce product that enables quicker communication for businesses and customers by using AI to suggest responses to commonly asked questions. Sameer worked to eliminate redundant recommendations, increase semantic diversity and account for a wider range of business use-cases, while suggesting appropriate responses. Sameer is a Masters student in Computer Science.
Susie Ha
Susie Ha worked as a quantitative analytics intern at Wells Fargo in New York, NY. She joined the Advanced Technologies for Modeling (AToM) Group of Corporate Model Risk. She worked on text classification problems using small sample (~10) training data, i.e. few-shot learning to improve automation of customer service. Susie is a dual Ph.D. student in Computational Science & Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, with minor in Public Policy.
Kira O’Hare
Kira O’Hare worked as a research intern in the commercial buildings group at the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, CO. She conducted market analyses of thermal energy storage. She studied various storage sizes to calculate utilization and grid peak savings aggregated over different building types, HVAC types, and ISO regions. Her project evaluated characteristics of buildings and their respective loads that would indicate thermal energy storage could provide large grid peak shavings with minimal investment. Kira O’Hare is an Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) major specializing in analytics and data science, with a minor in public policy.
Taylor Sparacello
Taylor Sparacello worked as a data privacy intern at WarnerMedia in Atlanta, GA, the entertainment and media company that owns brands such as HBO, Cinemax, and Warner Bros. Taylor worked with the Privacy Operations team to prepare the company for external privacy audits and compliance with applicable legislation, including Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Taylor is a B.S. Mechanical Engineering student minoring in Law, Science & Technology.
Fall 2020
Matteo Zullo
Matteo Zullo will be working at global consulting firm Protiviti in Milan, Italy. The California-based firm is increasing its presence in business analytics and attracting candidates with machine learning and computing skills. Matteo will be working with client companies active in the industrial and financial sectors focusing on process mining and operations.
M. Cade Lawson
Cade Lawson will be working as a data intern at Fedex in Memphis, TN.
